It’s that time of year again and, as usual, I’m taking a summer blogging break, returning in August.

A Christmas Proposal by Jen Gilroy book cover imageBook news

I’ll be back with a new blog post before A Christmas Proposal, second in my Teacher Evacuees WW2 British home front saga/historical women’s fiction series, comes out in late August 2026.

While A Christmas Proposal stands alone, if you’ve read the first book, The Teacher Evacuees, A Christmas Proposal is Beatrice Wentworth’s story.

Although the book celebrates an English Christmas in wartime, it starts in September 1940 and goes through to early spring 1941 so can be read ‘out of season’ too.

Beatrice lost everything in the Great War – her brothers, her fiancé, her way of life. Will this new war bring back long-buried feelings?

And can she open her heart to love again when war already cost her so much?

Find out more and pre-order A Christmas Proposal here.

If you review on NetGalley, A Christmas Proposal is available to request (until 9 July 2026) here.

Other news

English Rose graduates from university this month so I’m excited to attend her graduations—two of them because she’s earned both a degree and certificate.

And while I’m working on several books and a book proposal this summer, I’m also looking forward to holiday time at our lakeside cottage.

In July we’ll be joined there by a British author friend and her husband which will be extra special.

Wishing you a happy few months and whether you’re on the beach (in the northern hemisphere) or cosy indoors (‘down under’), good books to read.
