Much of my life is recorded in photos on my phone.

For fun, I looked at five random photos from August 2026 to see what they said about me.

I’m an author with a new book out. 

Writing as Rose Warner, A Christmas Proposal, a WW2 home front story about evacuated teachers and their pupils, is currently on a virtual tour with Rachel’s Random Resources.

I appreciate Rachel’s stellar organisational skills, as well as the many book bloggers and reviewers currently reading my story and sharing it online.

The ‘Coach Canada’ represents my mum life and is bittersweet.

English Rose has begun graduate school/postgraduate study at a university in the Toronto area and left on that bus to start a new chapter in her life.

The stack of books says I’m an avid reader and that I enjoy finding vintage gems by women authors.

Looking more closely, though, from D.E. Stevenson to Monica Dickens, Jill Patton Walsh, Alison Uttley and more, almost all the authors in that stack are British, reflecting the British part of my life.

While I’m not a gardener, I love flowers and the colour pink.

When I spotted this gorgeous hanging basket with Tech Guy on a visit to his hometown, I took a photo to capture a memory of some ‘couple time.’

More prosaically, I’ll also use that picture in a future post on my Facebook author page.

Last but certainly not least, I’m a dog mum.

Sweet Floppy Ears features prominently on my phone camera roll.

Looking at the picture of her napping beside me on the futon at our lakeside cottage, I can almost feel the warmth of the summer sun and hear the gentle lap of lake water outside the open window.

And like my peaceful hound, I’m reminded to stop, rest and breathe.

Those five random photos from August are not only a snapshot of a month but much of my life.

And mixing ordinary moments with big events, they’re also a record of who and what I care about.
